Default Re: Centre Stands

I would guess so. However you would need to watch two things.
1. The "front to back" distance between the pivot and where the stand meets the ground. The shorter the stand the less this will be. As this distance lessens the easier it would be to roll the bike off the stand, it will "tip forwards" more easily. ie avoid parking it pointing down hill! This could be removed by putting a slight dog leg in the stand when welding it back together.
2. Depending on the design it would probably effect the amount of leverage you get when putting your weight on the stand to lift the bike. So, if you struggle to put it on the stand now, it might feel heavier. This would be slightly negated by the fact that you would not have to lift the bike quite so high.

Why not get rid of the centre stand, and get a paddock stand if its for servicing only?

My paddock stand is scratching my swing arm.
